Barangay leaders in Cotabato City have been ordered to form anti-dengue task forces to address the rising cases of dengue in the city.
Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi issued City Executive Order No. 304 on September 4, creating the task forces in the city’s 37 barangays.
The order mandates the creation of the Cotabato City Anti-Dengue Committee and the village level anti-dengue task forces.
This is the city’s response after the Department of Health declared a national dengue epidemic on August 6 due to the rising number of dengue cases in the country.
Sayadi leads the overall task force against dengue with the city council as her deputies. She urges all village executives to participate in the drive.
“Every barangay has its own Barangay Anti Dengue Task Force that will focus on prevention,” she said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Meyasser Patadon, city health chief, said his office will continue the implementation of the 4 o’clock Habit, 4S Kontra Dengue, at Aksyon Barangay Kontra Dengue (ABKD) programs.
The Cotabato City health office listed 677 dengue cases since January. (with reports from PNA)
