Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) made a press conference on Wednesday following President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive to lift lotto’s suspension.
According to Royina Garma, PCSO General Manager, the office took it positively when the chief executive decided to stop their operation because it became a way for them to evaluate the lotto’s process.
Garma added that PCSO has reviewed and concluded that lotto transparent.
“Napag-aralan namin kasama po ang board na this game is very transparent. May mga safety nets na nakalagay dito sa ating proseso… Kami po’y nagpapasalamat at binalik ang lotto (We, together with the board members reviewed that this game is very transparent. There are safety nets in our process… We are grateful that lotto started operating again),” she said.
PCSO stressed that they were evaluating the procedures and systems to trace if there were corruption hidden within the games. Garma pointed out that corruption may come from different angles; it could be inside, outside or be included in the process.
The General Manager also announced that there would be some changes in the games but it would be for the benefit of the general public.
“Kaya nga naming ni-request yung lotto kasi nakitaan namin ng wala ng dapat baguhin, malinis yun. Okay siya. STL (Small town lottery) may babaguhin, may aayusin. Yung ibang games ganun din po at may aayusin. Ito’y ikabubuti po hindi lang po ng PCSO but ng taumbayan natin na tatangkilik po sa mga palarong ‘to para mawala na yung agam-agam na dayaan o may panlolokong nangyayari… (The reason we request to bring back lotto is because it’s clean. There would be some changes in STL to fix it as well as the other games. This will be beneficial not only to PCSO but to the public patronizing the games; this will also wipe out all the doubts or that there are illegalities),” she mentioned.
On the other hand, Garma said that she doesn’t meddle with the past activities of PCSO. She emphasized that her focus is nailed in “doing things right” moreover to ensure that there wouldn’t be any corruption. (CA/LMO)
